When discussing WordPress Websites and Maintenance, there are common questions that come up from time to time. Our FAQ page is designed to help you understand our services, a little about WordPress and the Maintenance Plans we offer. Be sure to also check out our FAQ section that answers some of the common financial questions.

Can I use WP Guy if I do not have a WordPress site?

Our services are exclusively for new and existing WordPress websites. If you need a new WordPress website, please view our pricing page here. Or, if you would like WordPress Maintenance, please see our maintenance page here.

 

What if I do not need monthly support?

Currently, we only offer our monthly support plan. If you’re looking for some other service, please contact us so we can discuss this with you.

 

How many support request can I submit per month?

You can email us at any time for support. We will take care of it if your management plan covers the request. Sometimes we may be able to refer you to a document or article, or send you an answer by email or phone. For any requests that are not covered by your plan, we are happy to give you an estimate for completing the work you, or upgrade you to a higher plan.

 

What if I run out of design and development time?

If you have used the allocated design & development time in your maintenance plan, you can order additional hours by contacting our office. Our hourly rate for other work including WordPress Development, Publishing Content, WordPress Fixes and Support is $120+gst/hr.

 

What if plugin or theme updates break my website?

Our policy is to backup and test the necessary updates on our development servers. We do this to ensure that all will go well when we are ready to do a live update.  If we cannot fix any problems, we will restore the website back-up and contact you with recommendations.

 

What happens if my site is hacked?

If your website is hacked or found to contain malware by our security monitoring we can clean or restore your site and make recommendations to prevent it recurring. 

 

What does Bug Fixes and Errors Include?

We provide maintenance for the minor ongoing tweaks required to keep your site running and looking great.  Including bug fixes, minor improvements and small feature requests. Examples of bug fixes and errors would be: Does your website look strange in a particular browser? WordPress maintenance includes keeping your site looking great in the latest versions of  Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari. Plugin or theme issues introduced during a software upgrade. General WordPress maintenance, minor improvements and new feature examples: Adding Google Analytics tracking code, Swap out an old logo for a new one.

Why is Backup important?

All websites are vulnerable to malicious attacks. Web sites can crash for a variety of reasons including virus infection or malware. If you do not have a backup the potential for permanently losing your entire website is very real. Fortunately, WP Guy includes Backups in all our WordPress Maintenance Plans. 

 

What do you do if my site goes offline?

If your WordPress Maintenance is carried out by WP Guy, we can use your most recent backup to restore your site. Then you can relax knowing that your site is in safe hands.

 

Where are my Backups stored?

We will retain your daily backups in cloud storage. In addition to this, further copies of your backups will be stored on your website's server.

 

How often do you backup my website?

We do daily backups of your entire website and database. In the event of a crashed web site or hack, we will be able to rollback to a stable version of your site, and have you up and running in no time.

Does WP Guy offer web hosting?

WP Guy provides hosting with well known WordPress Cloud Hosting companies. Our website hosting costs are very economical compared to if you were buying this yourself. 

 

Do you have a preferred host?

We recommend the web host that is best for your website situation.  We recommend working with quality WordPress hosts. 

Can you transfer my website to another hosting company?

Yes, please contact us and we can transfer your website for a small fee.

 

What details do you need to transfer?

We will need your WordPress administrator account and FTP login.  Let us know if you need help in obtaining these details.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept credit cards including Mastercard, Visa and Amex. We also accept payment by Direct Debit. After signup, cards are auto-charged for website development payments and we can set up a monthly recurring direct debit for your WordPress Maintenance plan.

 

Am I locked into a contract?

We would like to maintain your website on a continual basis. However, you can cancel your service at any time with one month's notice.

Please read our terms and conditions which contain information about what action is required to be taken prior to, and after you cancel with us.

 

Do you offer discounts for more than one site?

It is possible to arrange an individual maintenance plan depending on the number of sites you have and the level of service you would like. It is best to contact us to discuss this.

 

What do you mean by Search Engine Friendly?

We ensure that your website has the necessary information to be indexed by search engines. This includes a title, description and keywords for each new post, page or product that we create on your behalf. Our service will meet the basic requirements for minimum proper search engine metadata. We will also produce an XML sitemap on your behalf which will help your search engine rankings. We do not provide search engine optimization.

What is a Favicon?

A favicon (short for "favorites icon"), also known as a page icon or an urlicon, is an icon associated with a particular website or webpage. A web designer can create such an icon, and many recent web browsers can then make use of them, in the address bar of the site.

What is CDN?

A content delivery network (CDN) is a system of distributed servers (network) that deliver web pages and other Web content to a user based on the geographic locations of the user, the origin of the web page and a content delivery server. The CDN has the advantage of speeding up page loading times (response time), improving user comfort, securing your data, improving SEO and reducing your bandwidth costs.

What is a Child Theme?

A child theme is a theme that inherits the functionality and styling of another theme, called the parent theme. Child themes are the recommended way of modifying an existing WordPress theme.

What is a Content Management System (CMS)?

A content management system (CMS) is a computer application that allows publishing, editing, modifying, organising, deleting, and maintaining content from a central interface. Such systems of content management provide procedures to manage workflow in a collaborative environment. WordPress is easily the most accessible and possibly the most commonly used. The strength of WordPress is in its quick installation and the massive user and developer community that results in a vast array of plugins and enhancements for the platform.

What is SSL and Dedicated IP Address?

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remain private and integral. A private SSL is required if you plan to set up an online shop and receive payments online. It will also make your customers and visitors feel confident when they submit any sensitive information on your website. A dedicated IP (Internet Protocol) is a unique Internet address dedicated exclusively to a single hosting account. In contrast to the typical configuration of several hosting accounts residing on a single server and sharing its IP address. When there is a requirement for SSL, there is also a requirement for a Dedicated IP Address.
